Busy, Busy, Busy.

Seems like i have spen much of the week either drivine my car or accompany a bro in his car. Monday my bro called and asked me if I would like to ride with him to a few stores. In one of the places I picked up the tiles for my bathroom floor. I have been wanting to redo the floor for a long time. Now, I will finally get it done. Then on tues., I went to the eye dr again. This time was to have new glasses fitted.
Wed, I rode with my bro again when he went to a best buy store about 20 - 25 miles from here.
Then this morning I finally found enough time to start working on my bathroom floor. Spent all morning removing all the old tiles. Then the phone rang and my glasses had came in. Told the girl I would pick them up tomorrow. But, when I went after my mail I could feel moisture in the air and figured it might rain tomorrow. So, Off I went this afternoon after my glasses. Then had to stop and buy more minutes for my cell phone. So, was after 5pm when i arrived back home.
Then after getting a bite to eat, i decided to start getting the floor ready for the new tiles. Had some places where the wallboard didn`t touch the floor. That is what allowed the old tiles to slip in places. So I went to the shop and cut some thin long pieces of board and filled in leaving no space between the wallboard and the floor for the new tiles to slide into. Then it was sanding time as I wanted to remove as much of the old glue as possible so the floor would be nice and smooth and level. Then I got my smaller vaccumm cleaner and did a good job cleaning the floor. So, now the floor is ready to accept the tiles. But, I feel it would be better to wait till I am rested to finish. Hopefully I will be able to lay down the new tiles tomorrow. It will be so good to finally have the floor looking great again.
Next job will be the dining room floor. But there is too many heavy things to move there that I plan on letting my youngest son help with that room. Still haven`t found any tiles I am crazy about for that room yet.
haven`t had much spare time this week and i miss not dropping in everyones blog and reading what they have written. Sunday i will be off to my Son`s Birthday party. Hope things slow down next week.

Thought this was cute so decided to add it to my post. Think it mitght really work??

Hospital Call
A woman called a local hospital. "Hello. Could you connect me to the person who gives information about patients. I'd like to find out if a patient is getting better, doing as expected, or getting worse."

The voice on the other end said, "What is the patient's name and room number?"

"Sarah Finkel, room 302."

"I'll connect you with the nursing station."

"3-A Nursing Station. How can I help You?"

"I'd like to know the condition of Sarah Finkel in room 302."

"Just a moment. Let me look at her records. Mrs. Finkel is doing very well. In fact, she's had two full meals, her blood pressure is fine. She is to be taken off the heart monitor in a couple of hours and, if she continues this improvement, Dr. Cohen is going to send her home Tuesday at noon."

The woman said, "What a relief! Oh, that's fantastic... that's wonderful news!"

The nurse said, "From your enthusiasm, I take it you are a close family member or a very close friend!"

"Neither I'm Sarah Finkel in 302! Nobody here tells me anything!."

One more thing to add, all 4 blossoms have opened on my plant now and already the first two blossoms are starting to die. But it was pretty with all the blossoms at once. Amerillas plant that is.

Comments:
My hubby and I laid a tile floor, once. It's hard work.

In my new house I want to get ceramic tile for the wall behind my stove, something pretty to brighten it up. It's just painted a flat yellow color, and I think tile would look nice and be easier to clean.

I can't wait to plant flowers outside now that I actually have my own yard!

Oh my, sounds you've been really busy!

I admire you for getting the floor done, you're so handy.

And I loved the story :-)

Have a lovely weekend.

Sky, wish you did live closer so we could have fun doing things together. Talking about leaky faucets, hope you have shut off under the sink to shut off the water to the bathroom lines, or down cellar- a shut off for the tub water if thats what is leaking. Much easier with shut off so you can do repairs without shutting the water off everywheres in the house. Years ago two ogf the many things i taught the cubscouts were how to change the washers in a leaky faucet and how to rewire a lamp. It was much easier changing the washers and all in the older style.
Just a tip, try either placing a sponge ora washcloth in the sink where the drip hits and it might quiet the drip noise. But if you pay for your water you might want to get it fixed sooner . Good Luck.
I`ll take a picture of the floor when it is completed. WWant to get some mopboard to put in the bathroom. Tiles are almost done, just have a tiny place along one wall left to fill in.

Ceramic tiles do look nice behid the stove. I have tiled washable style wallboard in the kitchen half. The wallboard has been there for many years and still cleans easily. my kitchen used to be yellow before the wallboard.
Me too, I can`t wait for it to get warm enough for outside flowers. Wish the lilacs lasted longer, but every year as soon as it rains they turn like rust color. I think it might be from the acid rains and all the impurities in the air that the rain brings down. So, probably will ruin the lilacs again this year. They used to last most of the summer years ago.
Good Luck with getting your pretty ceramic tiles.

my machine is going crazy and reposting the same replies over again.
Thanks Lifecruiser. it might be my last floor I do myself as it is getting to hard to get up from the floor. But, I do enjoy doing it.
Have it almost finished, am left with a small section up the side to do. Was a job cutting around the seat, heat pipe that goed upstairs and the cubby hole next to the sink. But that part is finished. All the hard work is done, next is the edge and the mopboard. have a great week-end!!

You are a busy body but something tells me you love to keep busy.
Tiles on the floor can be fun but I put some on the wall once and was fit to be tied when I was done.

My gosh, you have been busy. Seems like there is always work to be done around the house.
Love the Sarah Finkel story. Very cute.

Yes Walker, I feel like it was a wasted day if I didn`t accomplish at least some small thing.
I am glad the tile part is done as I think the bathroom is the hardest room to do with places to cut around.
Never tried actual wall tiles, we just bought the wallboard with the washable tile effect for the kitchen side of the room and I also added this type of wallboard over the tub enclosure on up to the ceiling. I have seen some pretty wall tiles that we were origionally going to put behind the stove, till we saw the tiled wallboard.
Must be quite a job making each tile stay in place while you set the rest of them. How did you manage that? one thing I haven`t tried yet.

Hi Nan, you are so right. Seems that no more than you finish one project update, there is something else staring you in the face waiting to be re-done. Have a dining room floor waiting and still deciding whether to get tiles or now thinking a roll out might last just as long and go down faster. I would love the wood floor like Mr Haney put down,. but this room gets the most travel so something easier to care for would be better for me. If was younger, then might have done the wood floor, but lots of money at my age.
Last month was new glasses and yesterday I dropped my bottom teeth and when they hit the floor they broke in half. Was sitting in a chair, so they only fell a couple feet. Makes me wonder what kind of material they used for them to break that easy. So, tomorrow it`s back to the dentist. Only bought them a little over a year ago.
